I use my K10D with the screw/bayonet adapter and get some troubles with sharp focus -- I focus back and forth and see the Green Diamond thingy come up but when I look the focus is OUT -- with my 35mm f2 Super-Takumar I notice at f2 that the sharp focus is way BEHIND the thing I focus upon--Friday I went to do a job at the Brentwood centre with my 135mm f2.5 SMC Takumar and had trouble -- the Green Diamond does not agree with the focus. Anyone help ?

Have you ever done a Back/Front focus test on your Auto Focus lenses, wide open, they use the same phase focus system. If the AF lenses are also back focusing there is your problem and you will need to do a global BF focus adjustment.

I found that synchronising the focus indicator, split screen and matt surface for use with manual focus lenses became quite a mission on my K200D and am now starting the whole process all over again for the K5.

This can become a long and involved discussion, there are lots of posts and articles on the Web covering the subject.

Enjoy

Oh Dear ( No stronger words, as it is a 'Sunday' ) I need to get it sorted today as I have to photograph 'Pixie Lott' in Concert tonight at the Brentwood Centre and my widest aperture lenses are my older ones - I have the kit 18-55mm auto-focus and none of my other lenses are 'digital' . Oh well, back to Good Old FILLUM and a C41 process late at night !

Peter - I occasionally get this problem on my K10 with my Takumar 55. I usually find if I unscrew it then screw it back in carefully, making sure the red 'diamind' f-stop marker is at the true top of the lens, it seems ok. Sometimes it just needs that extra bit of a twist to get it to focus properly.

Well, Folks, I went to the Pixie Lott Concert and took film as well as my K10D but when it started I put K10D onto 1000 ASA and found I could use my 1980's 80-200mm f4.5 SMC Pentax-M lens and the 75-150 f4 SMC Pentax-M for a couple and manually focussed and got some sharp ones in the time allowed-- only allowed photos during the first three songs and Security caom up to throw me out -- I was deafened anyway !! I have put results on my'Gallery' and the pics have beeen sent over the Ether to the Brentwood Gazette newspaper last night ready for them to make up the pages this morning. THEN I did a job early this morning at the Council Depot in the falling Snow with the Mayor, struggled to get hand-holdable shutter speed on 400 ASA in the bad light+ very weak flash, used my Digital 18-55mm Pentax DA lens and found all had 'Back-Focussed' !! The Mayor was OUT, the rear wall of Council Depot was IN ! Need to test K10D now -- and I call it 'my Trusty Pentax' !!
