The answer may be in the price, given what the likes of SRS etc charge for the same product.
Did you buy from Amazon or via Amazon?
Although in fairness not Amazon, I too bought a 'genuine' Pentax battery for my K20D at a bargain price, and a very accurate copy it is indeed - packaging, branding, etc - the give away in my case being the colour of the actual battery contacts!
I bought a 'snide' SanDisk memory card once via Amazon, and they were all over it like a rash when I contacted them - immediate refund from them and good-bye to the third party retailer.

I almost bought one of those. Return it to Amazon. You just follow their online procedure.

For the people who think ALL batteries are safe. Nikon have
just issued a recall notice due to melt-down of a batch
of batteries that they supplied for Nikon’s digital SLR's D800,
D800E, D7000 cameras and Nikon 1 V1 advanced camera.

At least a camera manufacturer will recall the batteries.
Cheap junk will just keep burning and melting cameras
until no batteries are left

Just for the sake of safety.... check if you have any
batteries/items on this recall list:
http://www.recallowl.com/recalls/battery
Obviously it won't include items that haven't had recall
notices. Or recalls that have been missed by the website

I got the battery via Amazon from a shop called "Hot Deal". Okay so by the looks of it the consensus is that it's fake. I had a very thorough look around the battery and the box and found more stuff. All compared to my supplied battery.
1. The print on the battery is same but using different size font and goes bold at different lines.
2. Molding of the battery pack is definitely different, it's missing D-li90 tags at the back, slight difference in the mold fitting curved side.
3. Box says: Made in Japan, battery says: Cell made in Japan. Assembled in China
4. Box states: Pentax Corporation, battery states: HOYA Corporation. If my memory serves me right, then Pentax as such is not a separate corporation.
5. As stated originally, missing plastic contact cap, and fitting is off.
An interesting note, the battery image on SRS, Clifton and other websites is more similar to the presumably fake one, than the one supplied with the camera

Is the battery allowed to not lock in the charger and I'm being just picky and paranoid or I got some look-alike counterfeit?
Cheers,
Aleks
