Gwyn, Peter,

My comments were based on Smeggy's "being without a K5" statement only.

Understood Gary. I'm certain that there will never be a camera that is all things to all people. It'd be a bit boring if there were, we'd have nothing to argue about.

they are fine at the size posted in this thread.

if anything is going to convince those without a K-5 to sell their grandmother/mother/partner to get one then this is it!!!
Fair comment but what if others don't shoot at or need high ISO?

I don't have a K5, yesterday I was at a West Australian Pentax shoot at an RAAF Museum. Two of the guys were using K5's which helped in the low light. I used my K7. I also used a D7000 and D700. The D700 had no issue with high ISO and the 14-24mm f/2.8. I used the 24-70mm f/2.8 on the D7000, also at high ISO. I used the 16-50mm SDM on the K7 with a flashgun.

The guys were a bit stuck with FOV issues as the widest lens they had was the 15mm (21mm on cropped). They don't use third party glass.

I think the images in the OP are more than good enough but lets keep our feet on the ground. Those that have K5's should just use them and try not to give the impression to others that it's a must have piece of kit.

There are other camera's out there that work very well at high ISO and have faster glass to match (at a price).

A camera is a tool and nothing more. For those like me that also use other makes alongside Pentax, it's no different than having various tools on the garage shelf.

Surely, making an image is more important than the tools used to make it?
So K10's, K7's et al will always be capable cameras.

Best regards
I upgraded to the K5 not because I wanted the high ISO, but compared to used K7 prices it was a no brainer. Yes, the K7 shares the same body and therefore build quality. However SRS still sells used K7's for £500 (no disrespect here).

On such an outlay I would rather save for a bit longer, and get the K5 for £889 (what I paid for from SRS).

As to not 'needing the high ISO', who can tell, here's a recent one I took fairly late in the evening (9:30ish), ISO 3200 (no noise reduction).
