K30 Remote cable release thingy ?

I feel daft replying to my own post BUT
I've tried in all the logical places to check this
Information gleaned from Pentax UK Site
the Remote F was designed for the *ist D, Optio 555, 550, 450, S4, S, 430RS, 430, 330RS, 330
I KNOW the CS 205 [ the wired one] works on the K7 and K5 and again from their website Designed for the MZ-6, *ist Date, *ist D, *istDS, *istDL & *istDL2
In sheer disgust I emailed SRS and within minutes got a response from Doug

make your own.
2.5mm stereo jack plug. twin core cable - length to suit. Suitable switch
Jack sleeve = 0v
Jack Ring = half press
Jack tip = shutter release.
You don't need to make the 'half press' circuit to trigger the shutter. At least not on the K10D, K20D and K-5

I have an old (ahem!) Canon one. It was considerably cheaper than the Pentax equivalent, and has worked on every Pentax camera I have had from my Ds on.

I bought a £5 PowerPlanet compatible CS-205 wired remote from Amazon UK. There was no mention of K-30 compatibility but it works fine.

Also have the official Pentax IR remote that came with my K10D but prefer a wired remote.

I also have the IR Remote but for simplicity at times was looking for a wired one since the K30 does have the terminal for one.
I've also taken the plunge now and ordered up the PowerPlanet one
Wonder why Pentax has not updated the list of compatible cameras for the CS-205 - it just doesn't make sense not to

The remote F will work with the K30 as well. I have one and I used it from the old Pentax EL2000/3000, K10D/K20D, K7/K5 and now the K30
K1/K3, DA*16-50mm F2.8, FA 31mm F1.8, FA43mm F1.9 Limited, FA77mm F1.8 Limited, SMC Pentax K 85mm F1.8, DA18-135mm F3.5-5.6, FA*28-70mm F1.8, FA*200mm F1.8

I have a cheap cable release from E-bay. Works very well. I also have the IR remote by Trust. Also works well
K30, K-x, *ist DL. Pentax 60-250 F4, Sigma 18-125 & 70-300

The manual shows a socket for cable release - but tells you how to use the Infra red remote.
I would appreciate being able to use the wired gadget as I want to use it where I can't actually have the IR remote in front of the camera .
