K3 use with remote control

I've got several of the small remote controls which work the K-5 without problem, but they don't fire the K-3. Does it need a different one or have I a partially duff K-3?
If someone else has a remote control and a K-3 I'd appreciate if they might check how theirs performs before I get onto the supplier.

Before you suggest it, yes I set the remote control function same as the K-5!

Thanks,

Had no luck with mine either.

The Ricoh (US) site says in one bit of text that the Remote Control F is "Compatible with: All PENTAX DSLR cameras,....", but on the same page also says "•Compatible with select PENTAX DSLR and PENTAX Compact cameras".

Just to clarify things

The cheap ebay one that used to fire my K-5 now works fine with my K-3.
Flickr feedback always appreciated: https://www.flickr.com/photos/robheath/

Thanks for checking. Actually I did manage to get it to fire just the once, caught me by surprise! Certainly not repeatable or reliable.
Is this to force the purchase of an O-RC1 and does it work properly with one of those in any event?

Hi Jak - You have to select Remote Control to use it. Page 51 in the manual. I have an O-RC1 and with that one can also use the middle button to focus.

Hi
I have tried my K3 with my O-RC1 remote.
It works perfectly, doesn't miss a shot.
Front and back.
Even works from the side.....
Hope this helps.

As I said, I set it up the same as the K-5 which works fine - see the original post, thanks for the suggestion however. Mine isn't an O-RC1 but one of those cheap ebay jobbies. The odd thing is it did work one odd time. Puzzling.

Thanks. Looks like it's to force the purchase of one of those remotes.

Don't see why the ebay one should work fine with the K-5 but not the K-3.

I've ordered an O-RC1. Wonder if it will make a difference?

I use a Pentax remote and it works fine with my K-3.

Hopefully the O-RC1 will prove fine.

Hi
I've used the F-remote with mirror up, no problems.

Thanks, fingers crossed while I wait for the post!

I wonder why the cheapie remotes fail to work the K-3 (and as I've now discovered the K-01 isn't too happy with them either) whereas the K-5 works every time with them.

I suppose it could be a fault with the K-3 but can't really believe that to be the case; I'll find out soon.
