The Ricoh (US) site says in one bit of text that the Remote Control F is "Compatible with: All PENTAX DSLR cameras,....", but on the same page also says "•Compatible with select PENTAX DSLR and PENTAX Compact cameras".

The cheap ebay one that used to fire my K-5 now works fine with my K-3.
Flickr feedback always appreciated: https://www.flickr.com/photos/robheath/

Thanks for checking. Actually I did manage to get it to fire just the once, caught me by surprise! Certainly not repeatable or reliable.
Is this to force the purchase of an O-RC1 and does it work properly with one of those in any event?

Hi Jak - You have to select Remote Control to use it. Page 51 in the manual. I have an O-RC1 and with that one can also use the middle button to focus.

Hi
I have tried my K3 with my O-RC1 remote.
It works perfectly, doesn't miss a shot.
Front and back.
Even works from the side.....
Hope this helps.

As I said, I set it up the same as the K-5 which works fine - see the original post, thanks for the suggestion however. Mine isn't an O-RC1 but one of those cheap ebay jobbies. The odd thing is it did work one odd time. Puzzling.Hi Jak - You have to select Remote Control to use it. Page 51 in the manual. Don't see why the ebay one should work fine with the K-5 but not the K-3.

I've ordered an O-RC1. Wonder if it will make a difference?

Thanks, fingers crossed while I wait for the post!
I wonder why the cheapie remotes fail to work the K-3 (and as I've now discovered the K-01 isn't too happy with them either) whereas the K-5 works every time with them.
I suppose it could be a fault with the K-3 but can't really believe that to be the case; I'll find out soon.

If someone else has a remote control and a K-3 I'd appreciate if they might check how theirs performs before I get onto the supplier.
Before you suggest it, yes I set the remote control function same as the K-5!
Thanks,
John K
