K3 use with remote control

I've got several of the small remote controls which work the K-5 without problem, but they don't fire the K-3. Does it need a different one or have I a partially duff K-3? If someone else has a remote control and a K-3 I'd appreciate if they might check how theirs performs before I get onto the supplier. Before you suggest it, yes I set the remote control function same as the K-5! Thanks, John K
