Fantastic! Looks like the K-3 is superb. I wonder with the clout that Ricoh have, that they have got Sony to make a mk2 version of the 24MP sensor. It seems far better than the A77 and D5200......
Or is it just the Pentax processing engine.........

One thing - look on that big hair on head of animal. That rainbow dissapoints. And beard (where (c) is placed) is even worse signal for bad digital signal processing, lack of antialiasing filter and combo of both problems.

But, damn... Good lens that 60-250 actually!

If these 'problems' are the worst that occur I don't think we have anything to worry about!!

The sun is shining through the animal's hairs and I would expect this to produce these kind of effects - this can be visible with the naked eye!

It can indeed. Have to get a pair of contact AA filters fitted.

Surely back light can defract through a semi-transparent hair. Could it just be physics?

A couple more, nothing special but hope they will show what K3 is capable of

Hmmmm. 75mm handheld @ 1/250 I'm sure should be better than that. I could perhaps understand at 250mm handheld @ 1/250

or is it a front or back focussing issue?

Back focus issue I did a quick test and found I needed -5 focus adjustment on the 60-250mm, I'll have to do a more thorough test when I have time.

Don't be ridiculous. That's what I would call nit picking to the n'th degree.

Get real, just as you look at a fly, you can't see the multi-faceted detail in its eye, you would only see this minuscule aberration through a magnifying glass.

Nop. I am superreal.
If we are evaluating 24mp vs 16mp what was introduced before, then gain is realy minimaland reason to increase megapixels must be obvious.

Actually (seeing other samples) it is more like user failure - wrong RAW processing or something like that.

But only thing what worries me - lack of AA filter and possible consequences with this. For example, trying to take picture to print later on A1 paper with resolution 360 dots per inch.

The lack of AA filter isn't any sort of worry as there is the AA Filter Simulator.

Yes, you could print a K3 photo on A1 paper but not at 360dpi.

The maximum pixel size of a K3 image is 6016 x 4000, so for a 100% print at 360 dpi the image would be only 16.71" x 11.11". To achieve A1 the dpi resolution would need to be approximately 180. A K5 image would of course have a lower resolution still; at 360 dpi the image would print at 13.68" x 9.07" so the resolution on a the much larger A1 print would be just approx 150dpi.

I`ll repeat - lack of AA filter is major difference. And I look for effectiveness/flaws, etc

Brown color is not dirt, it is RGBG CMOS sensor effect, when moire makes rainbows and processor makes wrong equations.

Is this your own evaluation or is there an article somewhere discussing this 'issue' with this particular image?
