Progress happens all the time and so it should. There's nothing wrong with buying a different Pentax body - the K-3 will not be the automatic choice for everyone.
This is not corporate cynicism, whatever that is, it's offering a good wide range of options for the market as a whole.
Surely choice is a good thing?

I really don't think you are living in the real world are you? What about the TV manufacturers bringing out new ranges every 6 to 12 months? If you bought an all-singing, all-dancing 55" TV 6 months ago, then Toshiba, Sony et al bring out their latest model, does this make your TV redundant or old technological hat? Of course it doesn't.Further to my prior comments relating to corporate cynicism...behold the K3 suddenly emerges amidst a positive plethora of other recent Pentax/Ricoh releases. It never ceases to amaze me, the cynicism of some of the views on here, never mind the 'corporate cynicism' of Ricoh / Pentax
There are complaints when no new models are released, complaints when it's not full frame, complaints if it's too expensive and complaints when too many new models come out!
I don't worry about such things, if I want to buy a camera I do (funds permitting), if I don't, I don't. I currently don't know if I will buy a K-3, I will wait and see how people perceive it in a few months time. If I do buy one, I will not be selling the K-5IIs. I don't consider myself to be a 'hapless sap' and I don't think others on here who own a K-5II or a K-5IIs would consider themselves in this category either. I'm sure almost all of us have been and continue to be highly delighted with our purchases.

If you wait for the next thing then you will wait forever. The K3 looks like a very good camera, but any of the current models is capable of excellent image quality so a decision to buy any of them is a good decision.

Is the image quality of the K3 going to be worth nearly 700 quid more than I paid for my K30 less than a year ago? I think not. A friend has just got a Nikon D7001 with I think has the same sensor as the K3 and I am less than impressed with the results compared to the D7000 he had before.

I don't think you can judge the quality of the K-3 by somebody else's experience with a Nikon....and the K-3 is also a very different beast to the K30.

It doesn't work like that Is the image quality of the K3 going to be worth nearly 700 quid more than I paid for my K30 less than a year ago?
But may be I need to drink 10 bottles to make it 2 times better ?

As for price for a second, I attended a Sony event yesterday with the release of 3 new cameras, 2 full frame and 1 sort of compact, even the compactish camera was £999 but for a couple of hundred quid more you could have FF, But for £100 less you could have the K3,
Nikon yesterday launched the D5300 which is essentially a starter camera for over £800 with kit lens so for a couple of hundred quid more you could have the K3 a Pro spec camera.
The price gap in technology has closed to the point of hundreds and not thousands of pounds, so all cameras with a few exceptions are around a certain price area, wether that's MFT, Mirrorless, FF, Aps-c, Starter or Pro spec models. So surely when it comes to buying a new camera, price to a certain point is not as important as ability anymore,
We buy because we either need it or want it, nothing more, nothing less, we can moan about the fact that we pay over the odds in this country for tech and yes we do, but we are stuck with it and just sometimes except the fact that we are better off in other areas, Has anybody tried to buy toiletries or even Heinz Baked Beans in Oz or New Zealand.

The D7100 has a Toshiba sensor. The K-3's sensor is made by Sony.

But both produced from Vietnamese parts, plants and so on?
"sensor" is just electronic part made by order at some factory, owned by some stock holders, ruled by some paid managers.
I don`t see strong evidence that one is better than another - till they are not placed on shop shelves and compared isde by side.
