K3 II power off issue

So it happened to me twice since I bought it. After reading some horror stories on pentaxforums.com of long delays of getting the problem solved in US I was a bit hesitant to phone Pentax UK.
But I did today and a very nice lady told me that FedEx will collect my camera tomorrow at no cost to me and the issue should be resolved in up to 10 working days and probably faster. If that's the case then our service centre is much better than the one in US.

I'll keep you posted.

I took mine back to the dealer and it was replaced within 7 days with a new body.

Update on the current situation: FedEx guy picked it up on 9/9/15 (free of charge). I phoned Johnsons Photopia today and was told it's in the workshop now and they're looking to send it back to me on Monday so I should have it on Tuesday. That would be 6 calendar days turnaround with weekend in the middle. Great service I'd say.

I sent mine on 02/09/15 via FedEx with my DBG5 (Which is where I think my problem is) and have heard nothing yet. Like you the very nice girl said "10 / 15 days" That gives them 'til the 17th. I shall wait and see. Unlike you Greg I've not followed up with a 'phone call so have no up to date info'.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed now for new purchases?

According to the press release only certain serial numbers were affected, all from early batches.
Best regards, John

As John says. Only certain serial numbers were affected. Mine is in that batch. From what I've learned from both SRS and J.P. the fault was something to do with the wiring of the GPS? Although I have had no problem with the camera (Touch wood) I had a problem with the battery in the grip showing very rapid draining but when I tested it with the DBG5 from my K3 all was OK. when I checked the battery/batteries on my multi meter they showed full but on both cameras they showed rapid draining. With the DBG5 from my K3 on either camera all was as it should be. The nice girl at J.P. said "Send both the camera and the DBG5 and we'll look at them" So I did. I'm hoping it's just a wiring fault on the DBG5.

I have just 'phoned J.P. and was told my camera and DBG5 was dispatched on Friday for delivery today Monday 14th. 2nd to the 14th. = 12 days minus 2 weekends = 8 days. I was told the same as Greg 10 / 15 days so I don't think that's too bad. Of course Greg was told on the 'phone 6 days including a weekend = 4 days.
What have you got that I haven't Greg????
Are you better looking???? Richer??? (You offered a bribe) Your'e a bully and you threatened them/// OR just lucky????
All in jest. CHEERS Vic.

Better looking: don't think that's a factor, only spoke to them on the phone, no video
Bribe: can't afford it after buying K3 II and Sigma 18-35
Bully: no, I'm a nice guy..... really
Lucky: maybe, I had fair bit of luck in life but no lottery win.

To be fair, I haven't got it back yet. If it's here tomorrow like I was told it should be, that would be 4 working days.

Hi Greg. Mine came back at approx 1.00PM. by FedEx. So far all I've done is switch it on and play with the progs. a little. So far it seems OK. As it should. All the bells and whistles seem to be working. I think mine took a little longer because they had to test my DBG5 as well and that needed to be on test for quite a while as they had to go to it with different batteries on different cameras to try and replicate the problem, as well as my K3ii. Anyway it's back in time to give it a good try out before my holiday.
