My K3 battery "retired" after 400 exposures. Would this be about right for a 24mp camera?

It depends on a lot of other factors not just the number of exposures, but I think the K3 is rated for about 500.

Thanks Fletcher8.
I have been scrolling the menus setting it up so that will have drained the battery. Just thought it seemed a bit on the low side.

The manual and the speck on Ricoh web site state that the battery under normal conditions is good for 720 images.460-560 if using flash

Any new battery will need to be charged, discharged, and recharged a few times before it'll reach it's maximum capacity.

If its a new battery, which I guess it is, it could well take several charge cycles to get to full power.

Also being a new camera, you've no doubt been fiddling with the menus and playback more than you normally would which must take their toll on the battery charge life.

It is the battery out of the box, so as Peter says it will need to be used a few times!!

Many thanks all for the responses.
