I hate it when people patent things that are already in the public domain? I hope whoever posted the first test card sues his arse off.

In the meantime and hoping that it's not infringing anyones patents Ive described how I do it in the thread "Pentax 100mm Macro"

Note a big difference between mine and the "Patent Pending" widget is that on he's the ruler slopes upwards on mine it's at 45deg which let's you get underneath and closer to the point of focus. Note also mine was never tested on animals

Well he is a Canon user, I say no more

The test chart at 45deg. is accurate if you first aim on the white part of the target and slowly aim down toward the black area, so you know when your sensor (and where your sensor is located) catches the target.

This is why mine was sent back after only a few weeks click here

Many thanks for all the info from you all re- AF adjustments. I will have a go this week and try them out.

If the AF is found to be way out, should I return the K20 to SRS?

What would be an acceptable error?

It's up to you what you accept.

-10 to +10 should be no problem if the adjustment really is enough and the image on the focusing screen looks OK to you as well.

You may get a camera exactly the same if you return it. That was my experience. So far, I think I can be happy with mine afterall.
