Pentax Website says that when new the charged battery, must be in for a day to charge the "Clock" power. After you remove the battery the clock will last for 1 day, before it runs out. Must be a capacitor in the K20D. I believe earlier models such as the *ist D have a button cell. Also earlier film SLR had the button cells I recall.

Sad to see it go, but makes room for an eventual upgrade to the K5 or the K4?

If it is taking a day to charge, it is unlikely to be a capacitor. More likely a small rechargeable.

If a small rechargeable, how do you replace it. Cant find a entry point.

You don't. Repair house job if needed, but it's doubtful that it will be needed.

I've never kept any digital camera long enough for it to be a problem. Always upgrading, although this process has slowwede down since we bought the K20D bodies.
Best regards, John

Especially when charged at 100v and dropped in someone's pocket!

600 Coulombs !

With a 1 second discharge it will average 600A ... that might just be felt!

Folks, most cameras, computers and other stuff with a built in clock use a small cell on the motherboard - more like large button cells. These last as long as five years.

While not particularly large capacitors can indeed be deadly, don't forget the batteries! A direct short across any lithium battery is much more likely to hurt (a result of the possible explosion) than anything from a capacitor deep inside the camera.
