Welcome to the forum. I dont have a K10 but I would imagine this must be similar to the K20.

In the "set up" menu select "beep", then you will see "setting" and below that the tick boxes. Highlight "setting" and toggle using the rear four-way controller to show the loudspeaker symbol without a red line through it. Then press "menu" to return.

The beep on mine is incredibly quiet, much quieter than any of my other bodies but personally, I wouldn't want the camera to beep ever.

I've had my K10D for nearly three years, never heard of this one, so congratulations on a very unusual problem!

Does everything else appear to work?

For example, the 'self-timer' beep option is ticked in the menu, and when you take a self-timer photo, the red LED (front and rear) flashes until it releases the shutter, but there's no beep to accompany the flashing?

As Gartmore says, it is pretty quiet. You get ten seconds of slow, and two seconds of fast beeping to listen out for with the 12s self timer, so perhaps worth making sure.

Welcome to the forum Eric, I hope you get your K10D sorted.
Unfortunately not having a K10D myself I wouldn't know what to suggest.

Check your AF.S and AF.C settings. I might be wrong here so I am going out on a limb but I have the impression that if the setting is for AF.C that beep might not happen. You have to select AF.S to hear that beep sound when the focus is acquired.

Please correct me if I am wrong because I am not exactly certain of this. I have never handled a K10

Hello Eric and welcome to the forum.
The beep on my K10 is set as Ken described and it too is very quiet.
The older I get the faster I was.
