Hi all

my trusty K100d was working well today when it jammed. it looks like the shutter has stuck. the mirror is up, but i can't see the sensor.

i've removed the batteries, put them back, etc... still nothing.

any tips?

failing that, any know a good repair centre in central London?

Are the batteries fully charged - or brand new if not rechargeable.
I don't have a K100 any more, but on a lot of cameras (film and digital) I have found that a low(ish) battery will have the exposure system start to operate and then hang. New batteries will then enable the cycle to complete and it's back to normal.

I doubt that there are any camera repairers in central London but Asahi Photo are probably your best bet.

cheers!

the batteries show fully charged - even when it has had low batteries it has never done this. i can go through the menu system, but it's just jammed.

it has taken many many thousands of pictures, mind you!

If you're feeling brave I've a copy of the service manual HERE, the password is 8639

I'll leave it for a few days then I'll have to remove it, it's 3meg and I need the space!

it's now on my compy. thanks for that. it's a very handy document.

i emailed the official Pentax servicing and was told it would be about 160+vat (so about 190 + postage etc). so i then called SRS and got a 2nd hand one for less!

i will drop the faulty one off at asahi, just a shame i can't get there this week.

i will also be taking the faulty body to the WWT photo competition winners' day on monday as it should be there to see two of its photos win a prize in the regional awards. never know, it might get a top prize!
