John Lewis seem to be loving the KS-1 as they have them for sale at my local John Lewis at Home (long with the K-50). They are also available from their web site.

Their extended guarantee looks good 3 years inc. accidental damage for £30 assuming that it's tagged onto the normal 2 years i.e. 5 years total.

There is a positive review of this camera in Amateur Photographer. Whilst I cannot comment on the Ks-1, it seems, despite other negative reviews ,that it ticks some peoples boxes. I spotted some white models being used in Edinburgh by tourists recently!!

I bought one courtesy of the recent Amazon deals, and whilst it's chalk and cheese compared to my K5II, I like it!

The size, weight and balance are just right when paired with any of my Limited's, and although a lot of the settings can only be achieved through the menu system, once done it's ideal for just sticking in a (largish ) pocket when out for a stroll, (although I still tend to grab my Fuji X20 first!).

I find the grip takes a little getting used to compared to by K5II, but not when compared to my Fuji X20, so I think a lot depends on whether you use large(r) cameras most of the time.

There are a number of interesting features which I haven't yet tested 'in anger', for example (and it appears this may also apply to the latest but unnamed Pentax body announced at CES), an 'auto' auto focus mode. You can select manual or auto focus mode using a switch on the front of the body, but then if in auto focus mode you can select (via a menu option) AF.S, AF.C, or AF.A, in which latter mode the camera will select AF.S or AF.C dependent on the subject. No idea yet how it works, or how well, but one of many little features to play with in due course.
