My question might little bit silly but what would be better choice. K-7 or new K-r? K-r has Savox XI and K-7 VIII. K-r 6fps K-7 5.2fps, but yes K-7 meant to be pro camera and seems to be really good body. But K-7 stop with ISO at 6400 where K-r stop at 25600 Sorry for my question here but I'm thinking about buying K-7 soon or later and now I got confused.

wait til sept 20 when the new upgrade for the k7 comes out... then ask yourself "What do I really need in a camera" instead of "Which camera has the best specs on paper?".My question might little bit silly but what would be better choice. I agree with Don. That is what I am going to do.
I know my bank would prefer I chose either the K7 or the K-r but we'll see.
I'm hoping that seeing them in the flesh so to speak, at Photokina, will also help with the choice. I don't want another brick like the K20D, but I may soon get frustrated with the K-r.
Pentamirror vs Pentaprism is also a consideration.
Aaargh!!!!

I have created a Wikipedia entry for it. It's almost empty at the moment as I wanted to at least get it started before someone else did.

Once someone gets one we need to get an image of it for the infobox.
Nice to see it finally.

Agree with that specially that K-7 might be priced at $1000 in USA when K-5 comes to sale. Possibly new K-7 will drop to 600GBP for body only, hmm I don't really mind , right now on ebay you can buy new with 18-55 WR for bit more then 600GBP with 12months warranty, who knows maybe price will be lower then I think. I know my bank would prefer I chose either the K7 or the K-r but we'll see.
Pentaxophile - I can't really complain with my K200D but that fps... eh, where did you test ISO? regards

I saw a set of K-r image samples across the range of ISOs on the other forum, posted by Ogl I believe. The higher ISOs were actually not that bad at all.
I think I'm going to go for K-7 (these improvements in high-ISO shooting will gnaw at me nonetheless I'm sure). The camera's a great buy at the moment - when it came out I was in awe of it.

I have noticed that my K200d (same sensor as K10D) seems to give MUCH cleaner images at low ISO than the K-7
This is on the pixel level though. The K-7 probably beats it at 400: what do you think Mike?
The K10D sensor is a CCD, those are more uniform and cleaner than CMOS so if you use low ISO you can see the difference.I have noticed that my K200d (same sensor as K10D) seems to give MUCH cleaner images at low ISO than the K-7

Here is a comparison between the two http://www.dalsa.com/corp/markets/ccd_vs_cmos.aspx

It depend on what your need is, the K-R seem to have the better high ISO sensor and faster FPS.My question might little bit silly but what would be better choice. K-7 or new K-r? The K7 has better build quality, better controls, viewfinder and if the K-R sensor preforms the same as the K-X than the k-7 is better at lower ISO.
About the focus the K-R has the Safox IX and the K-7 has the K-7 Safox VIII+, the plus is important because that means it has an extra sensor that analyse the light and adapt the AF so you've better accuracy. I've no idea how the Safox is but it could be faster.
So it's all up to you to decide what's better and what you need.
I'll wait to see what the K-5 has to offer.

Looks a nice solid camera to me. I have a K-x and the K-r is very much the kind I'd buy today. OTOH Pentax may be setting themselves up here by keeping to the two model approach. When it's time to replace my K-x, I'll have the choice only of moving sideways to a similar camera with a similar though slightly better sensor (it would appear) or moving up at pretty significant extra cost - but not of moving a little up at moderate cost. This is when another marque with a range of models may start to look tempting.
But no matter. The current market looks so difficult and so competitive than predictions must be impossible. I hope the K-r does well. Ditto for the new lens. It may get some stick on web forums for being only f2.4 but users on web forums are not the intended audience for it. That lens and a K-r would make a super kit, imho.
