K-m Mode Dial not working

Hi

Anyone had any problems with there K-m.

Went 2 use my K-m yesterday and the Mode Dial is not working, Camera is only working in Auto or AV mode, Turning the Dial does not allow me to choose any other option other than these 2 Modes.

Have downloaded the latest software from the Pentax site but this has made no difference, Have only had the Camera 5 months so looks like i'm sending it back for repair. It's not been dropped and is well treated so not sure why this has suddenly decided to MalFunction.

Whilst on the subject of repair, Has anyone had any experiance of sending there Camera back to the UK Repair Centre.

Am really fed up now, Was hoping to get some nice Wintery Shots with all this Snow around.

It's probably an option that you've selected that restrict you to those modes.
I don't know which options but resting to factory default would most likely be the most direct cure for the problem if not someone else can direct you precisely to the problem option.

The clue may be in the lens you are using. If you are using an aperture ring instead of the "A" setting, then Av and manual is all you will get, regardless of what the mode dial is set on.

A Very big thank you, I no I'm a novice with this Camera but that was so simple.

I had taken the Lens of whilst the Aperture Ring was not set at A.

Put the Lens back on and set it back to A, Mode dial works ok now.

I thought about that but since you said that Auto and AV mode were the only modes and not Manual, I declined that one. Really glad you didn't try my suggestion and losing all the settings in the mean time
