I love the K7 but it makes my K20D look like a steal right now...what to do what to do shall I sell the K20d and grip and take a punt, or...?
I would hang on to the K20 for a while yet and see what happens to the price on the K-7, theres no way I would touch it at that price.

The K20 is still fetching pretty good prices over here, around £500 with kit lens, which will go a long way to recouping some of the £750 I outlayed for the K-7, it won't even cover half your costs
I did see one company advertising flights to Oz last week for £1...makes you think about your options
Back in the 60s we had the 10pound poms flying out here, now its only a pound at least something over there is coming down in price

It would be better to see nice prices. Too expensive for me at the moment. When it hits sub £800 I'll consider it.
Peter think about buying it in a Euro land. It is cheaper. The French have it already, and it must be here soon. The cheapest I've seen it here is €1049.
Thanks Gwyn but my preferred supplier is SRS Microsystems and I'l only buy from them . . . when the price is right. I'm hoping Pentax UK will come to their senses soon when they realise their sales targets are not being met and decide that they have set a stupid/rip-off price which most of us are not prepared to pay.

I have to say I wish more people would take a stand and not pay these ridiculous prices in UK. It's the only way to beat Pentax UK at their own game.

Come on guys and gals, cancel those pre-orders and get the price down for all of us.

PS: Sorry Chris (SRS), this is not aimed at you or your business.

Hi Everyone,

We have taken delivery of our first shipment of the K-7, 18-55WR & 50-200WR

Body price - £1179

Body + 18-55WR - £1199

Body + 18-55WR + 50-200WR - £1299

We are still waiting for batteries.

We didn't receive our full allocation, but we should have enough for the majority of pre-orders. There is a second shipment early next week which covers all of our pre-orders.

Speak to some of you very soon!!

Clarky, I've spoken with Chris and he is fully aware of the contentious price issue for the body. Probably the best way of putting it is that it is out of his hands
I am aware its out of Chris's hands, Im just venting
Yes I agree it's isn't great and it seems to have been discussed at great length in many threads on this forum (pricing in the UK).

My take is that's not all exchange rate related by any means, Pentax UK see a short term opportunity to cream off some extra profit with the K-7. If production unit reviews are strong (and I see no reason to suspect otherwise) the price might hold at this sort of level for a little while, however as soon as a new D400 or 60D arrives on the scene the price will drop (as usual)

Shall I buy one? The price always drops a day or two after I buy a camera

The Canon 500D dropped by almost a third in its first month if that's anything to go by, but this is no doubt aimed at the 50D and D300 market pricewise. Although who's to say what price the D400 and 60D might arrive at?

It's funny I would have happily paid this price if I didn't know it was available for $1200 US and £740 in Oz and about £900 in Japan. Funny, I would have been happier seeing it for $1800 US so at least it was the same everywhere

Gwyn, I could almost mistake that for whingeing. Surely not?

No I'm not whingeing. I don't care that the price drops. That's life. But if you all want the price to drop fast then I had better buy one - though I'll get it here not there because it's already cheaper here .

Crikey, I know the price is high but we might at least recognise that the SRS price is better than anyone else in the UK at the moment.... Price with kit lens is same as body only in other places.

If the price falls in the Netherlands and nobody is there (from Pentax UK)to hear it, did it make a sound?

When I placed the order I expected it to be the price it is, I did hope it would be less but it is not and I would only cancel on my pre order if for some reason I could not pay for it. You note I said pay for it, afford it, of course I can't and something will have to go elsewhere but that is the problem when you WANT something, you have to pay the going price for it from your chosen supplier.
