I've tried RT but have never been satisfied with it so will use LR when needed. Yes I shoot RAW too but it's only needed (for me) when I want to develop something better than the JPG I pull out of it using InstantJPGfromRAW. This pulls out an embedded JPG using the settings I choose at shoot time (this is not the same as shooting RAW+JPEG). If it's rubbish I'll try and do something with the RAW in LR.
Same approach can be made using RT instead.

I agree. I would say shooting RAW over JPG is a sensible move Transit wrote:

Not that sense is always the best option, but in this case it is

I know nothing about RT, but I'm a big Lightroom fan. It's nearly driven me mad at times, but it has enabled me to improve my images greatly. And it has made it possible to avoid completely my pet hate - Photoshop.

Had the same problem, until the admin gently pointed out to me that you had to write the validation string backward!!!

I'm using RT but have a k100d. I found a profile for RT 2.4 that I tended to use as my default, but lately have started to use the beta version 3.0 which has new, different profile files ( with a .pp3 extension) so I'm feeling my way round that at the moment. There's no manual for 3.0 yet as they're still playing with the code, so newbies would be best to stick with 2.4
Some people have different profiles set up for low and high ISO. Here is one that was posted by DrSlony on the RT forum for high ISO shots (eg concerts):

My post above was a profile for version 2.4
I can show you my defaults v2.4 profile but it's for a k100d so may not be what you're after.

Now there is a chance I can join the forum I'll fossick about over there.
Still to download the trial as I am capped atm. Will be interesting to compare with LR which seemed to rub me up the wrong way.
cheers

Well, having moved from the K100D to the K-7, I have decided to fling caution to the wind and shoot in RAW
I like Raw Therapee and wonder if any of you guys use it and would care to share your workflow in it with the K-7
Any thoughts much appreciated
Cheers and happy New Year soon
Pete
