New K R White - Sliding Part

Hi All

I have just brough the New Kr - but if you move the camera from side to side you hear a clunking sound - like a then lens is moving from side to side on rails. Has anyone else herd this or got the same problem?

It's the "shake reduction". The image sensor is free floating when the camera isn't powered. When the camera is powered, electro-magnets hold it in position and moves it in such a way as to compensate for shake.

Only at the moment of capture or during live view. At all other times when the sensor isn't required it can slide of its own free will.

I am still a bit perplexed by this. I am a new K-r owner and have asked questions regarding the shake reduction. I hear the noise during live view and also when the shutter is being pressed. However If I turn the shake reduction off it still makes the noise. I am really confused if my shake reduction is working properly or not. I have taken test shots but cannot see any major differences when SR is on / off. Does anyone have any more scientific approaches to testing SR?

What you can do is choose a subject and then take a series of images at every shutter speed from 1 second through to, say, 1/60 second. Shoot them both with SR on and off, and see what difference it makes for you.

Also check through the viewfinder when its switched on or off.
You should only take the picture when the little green hand is visible (which is not instant) .. if you cannot see the hand then SR has not engaged, is not switched on or is not working.

You can also check photos in Photome which tells you if the image was stabilized or not.

Just checked mine as I thought this was interesting. the only noise I hear on mine is a very very faint clicking.

I know the live view makes a noise but I haven't really worked with this yet.
