So, my prediction of within a week or two was a little out......

So not a magnesium body after all, ah well. Great to have two cheaper bodies with 100% view finders though.

K500-£499 with 18-55 DAL Lens, plastic body no weather sealing and NO focus confirmation in the viewfinder?

K50-£529 Body only or £599 with 18-55mm WR Lens,Magnesium body,fully weather sealed and WITH focus confirmation in the viewfinder. Oh and you can have it in 119 colour combinations?

Not what you call groundbreaking, I just hope Pentax has not spent to much time,money or effort bringing something this boring to the market place

MattyH, it's always the case that the RRP is quoted at release date. When the items become available they will quickly settle to the "street price" and fall in line with everything else.

It happens with all marques.

Yes John,to be honest I am not to concerned about the RRP as this seems to be the going rate for mid range DSLRs, what I am concerned about is what seems to me another pair of stop gap cameras yet again,

The Pentax K30 is a superb camera but what I can't see anyone who owns one of them is not going to upgrade to the K50 and likewise anyone who owns another makers Dslr is also going to look at these pair and just think why.

I hate being so negative but surely in this day and age they could offer something a little bit different, or even groundbreaking as far as I can see the K50 is a re bodied K30 and also to offer a camera in the K500 with no focus confirmation is a 10 year step backwards.

Now on the other hand I like the idea and sensor of the Q7 as I already own the Q and Q10 maybe this is what Pentax is aiming for in its share of the market place mass sale to people who are not that interested in photography as a hobby, they just want the best camera they can afford.

Nothing different? Open your eyes, MattyH! 100% viewfinders, weather resistance, 120 colours, and a host of other professional features all at the price level. These cameras knock spots off the opposition and the pace is quickening. Whatever else you accuse Pentax of, I can't see not being different as one of them.

The Q7 does look interesting and there's no size change to the cameras. Quite an achievement.

I am of to New York in August and will be leaving my K's at home and just taking the Q's and new MX-1 maybe even the new 7 and this is what is getting me excited

100% agree John and IF Pentax do release a 35mm (FF) model, I hope it's in either a K10/20 or K5 size body. I would prefer it K10 size personally.

The K50 has enough to warrant praise as Nikon/Canon do not do as much with their lower priced body replacements and in some cases, their top end bodies.

All these new cameras, advertising emails hitting my inbox, specs trouncing the competition - not sure this is why I'm with Pentax?

Frankly, I don't care for it.

Was very possibly designed for this size sensor originally and the smaller sensor was a stop gap enabling Hoya to launch prior to selling off the business

And also a massive selling point in a larger sensor means my Q fisheye lens in 35mm equivalent of 17.5mm is now a 16.5mm and my standard zoom lens was 27.5-83mm and now a 23-69mm.

The only real concern I have is, were the original Q lenses designed for a future larger sensor in mind, as I am aware it's the same mount but with the smaller sensor it was using more of the centre of the lens but with the new one it is stretching it out to more of the edge of the lens,meaning possible more softness and less sharp at the edges without stopping down.:

Someone had posted that larger sensor will make the fisheye's angle of view closer to a classic fisheye 180 degrees, compared to 160 degrees with the old sensor. This might suggest that the larger sensor was always anticipated. There also looks to be a space around where the old sensor fits into the SR cradle.
