Spec suggest you get eye piece cap as standard. Thats handy, there have been a few discussions about light entering veiwfinder and affecting metering recently

What's the difference between this and the K30 please?

Difference looks mainly cosmetic Aura, designed to broaden the camera's appeal. It's slightly lighter and has a magnesium shell rather than plastic. It looks a bit less angular too. I wouldn't even contemplate upgrading from the K30 if I already had one.

Yeah I'm quite happy with mine. Took it on a submarine yesterday and I'll put the images on here

I thought magnesium would be heavier than plastic (in similar amounts that is) ??

If the magnesium shell was as thick as the plastic they use, it would indeed be heavier! Magnesium is stronger so the shell can be thinner (shaves a few mm off the camera dimensions too).

What worries me is what if you accidentally touch the camera with a naked flame, will it burn like a welder's torch?

Now that would provide a great marketing shot! Just in time too, the current crop on the theme of 'just come out of the freezer' are looking a bit old hat.

Whole heartedly agree with your comments about not upgrading from a K30. I wonder if this indicates a more aggressive stance in the market? I suspect that it does. interesting times
A very happily using a K30. My wife says I have too many lenses.

Pentaxforum have just added K50 AND K500 sections which implies they have some information that means TWO DSLR's are being announced. PF users also wonder how much of the spec isn't correct - they feel lot of the numbers don't add up and the spec is a partially edited K30 spec (weight for example being the same) and thus don't read a lot into the spec.

Guess that they are going to keep the K5 (II) for a while yet then. Maybe the K½ will be full frame.

A little more sober body to the K-30, same ISO performance as the K-5II. I think what is going to happen is thus:-

K-50 official in the next week or two.
K-5 replacement end July/Early August with possibly 20MP sensor
K-FF mid/end September.

Loads of solid rumours about new cameras during the course of the year (Starting with the Pentax/Ricoh GR recently) so this roadmap may just fit in.

Here's hoping.
