Seems very reasonable to me Mike. I have toyed with that idea too, but two things make the K5 my choice - pentaprism, and top screen. For some strange reason I find myself leaning towards a K-r
The menu based controls would drive me nuts. It is one of the few things I don't like about the K-m my husband has. One of the others - the AF points has of course been addressed in the K-r.
I am sure you would be happy with the K-r, and think of all the money you save to feed your LBA .

Yves - I am sure you know the saying about flying (in) the Mk1 version of anything.
If I were in the market for one, I'd be waiting for some feedback on them and the price to come down a bit.

Good job not everyone thinks that way or there would never be any sold .

I'm tempted, but I'm also tempted by another camera, the one with a very large sensor. And my wife said I can only get one camera this year. I'm still trying to find a way around that...

Well I wont be investing in a K5 until I have managed to get the best out of my K20D.......and I have a long way to go before I reach that!

The K5 seems to be a different camera with his high ISO capabilities and hopefully faster AF so this has very little do with with your capabilities but more of what your needs are.Well I wont be investing in a K5 until I have managed to get the best out of my K20D.......and I have a long way to go before I reach that!
I'll buy the K5 when it's out for his high ISO and the faster AF and it will be my walk around camera.
I'll keep the K10D, there is no Pentax camera that can beat his low ISO performance so the camera will be perfect for studio use and landscapes (if i'll do them).

The sensor on the K10D seems much better suited to macro as well .. which is why I bought another one.

I dont need higher ISO capabilities and the K20D AF is fast enough for what I shoot...so why bother!
