What kind of second battery, if any, you have? I find it a bit hard to swallow the 50£ for a second Pentax D-LI90 battery seen an Energizer for 18£ anybody has tried them? Do they even work with the K-5 or like Panasonic third party batteries simply don't work ?

I know I shouldn't really be cheap when it comes to batteries but it is tempting

BTW how many pcis does your original battery last you for? Mine I think went dead after about 600 or so but I am not sure.Sounds a bit low.

I've ordered two &day shop batteries for £5 each!. I figured they were worth a gamble given they are a tenth of the price of the Pentax ones.
I'll let you know how I get on when they turn up.

Yes that sounds about right bretti, compared to the D7k they are not that many, I ended up shooting 800 pictures with it before I sold it and the battery indicator was not even half way down. I'll have to get another one.

Have used cheap 2nd party batteries in all my Pentax kit, K10/K20/K7/K5 and never any issues or fault's.

Why spend £900 on a camera to baulk at £55 for a battery?

BECAUSE you have just spent 900 quid

After such a purchase, most of up are on value beans for several months, and the thought of spending more on batteries than we have to 'just for the brand name' isn't gonna fly!

The 7dayshop ones have worked well for me and I can't see any difference with the original one

Exactly right!!! Not quite on beans but I'd rather not spend 55 if I didn't have to Will check the 7days ones, thanks for the suggestion

Why spend £55 on a battery you can get for £8 ??

A rip off is a rip off regardless of anything else.

I have 4 £8 batteries for my 2 K-5s, adn the two pEntax batteries than came with them.

There's NO DIFFERENCE is performance. I get over 2,000 shots a battery regardless of whether it's a pentax or generic copy.

You get 2k shots from a full charge??????? How the heck do you manage that mine died at just over 600.

Yep. Brassic now and well overdrawn on brownie points...........
But £10 for two batteries is better than £100 for two Pentax batteries, to my way of thinking. That's nearly saved enough for half a 40mm Ltd!
Which incidentally makes for a lovely LITTLE camera package with the K-5.

The annoying thing with mine is it goes from showing full charge to dead in about 10-15 shots, so the on screen indicator is worse than useless. This is regardless of whether it is the Pentax battery or the third party one from SRS

Admittedly it is not very precise it stayed on full for over 500-550 shots then it dropped from two lines to none in less than 150...

BTW Smaggy do you have SR on when you manage your 2k.
