Got a K-5 last Wednesday, but it was Saturday before I managed to get out with it. Here's some pics. Not sure whether they are fighting or courting.

These are shots that I hadn't previously managed to capture satisfactorily with the K-x. However, the day was a mixed bag, though I'm obviously hoping thats down to unfamiliarity.

Very nice series - now I'm really starting to miss my 'injured' K5

I like these, I also do not know what they are doing

I love the high key look, it works brilliantly here. They're all very good - I like the dynamic of the second shot and the sharpness of the third. Very impressive. I was just about to post a first attempt at some seabird shots I took at the weekend, maybe I still will, but I'd feel a bit of a wally after seeing these. Terrific.

Extraordinary, I suppose the very high ISO has helped you here.

These would work brilliantly as a set Alan, especially if you were to crop them to the same size and shape IMO.

A very good set of images. Can you provide EXIF data?

Best regards

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. Dr O, post your pics, I've had a quick look on Flickr and you've took some super ones.

These were all at 1/2000 and f6.3 (that's wide open on the Sigma 150-500 at 500mm). Shot in TAV mode. First one is ISO 1000, and the others ISO 800. I've happily shot with a much higher ISO on the K-x, it was the AF that I feel made the difference

Having tried to take shots like these and failing miserably all I can say is that they are fantastically caught, give yourself a well deserved pat on the back!

Thats a great set of pictures Alan. I'm not a bird expert but I can appreciate these as both artistic and action shots. What focal length were you using?

There's something really gorgeous about the monochromatic sky and plumage, and those bright red beaks and feet.
