K-3 ?

APS does not have an extra reach with over FF with a Given lens.

If you crop the full frame to the same dimensions as APC, you'll get the same reach.

You can do the same with a 10" x 8" View Camera......
Crop the 10" x 8" plate down to 35mm

You are right, because the 10 x 8 film has the same resolution as a 35mm film.

However with a digital FF the logic is, that the resolution is much greater, say 30000 pixels and when you crop it to the APC size,it will still have 16000 pixels or there a bouts. This leaves the resolution after cropping the same as using the the APC only. So you didn't loose anything, except the wider angle of the FF.

I don't think anyone is set against it per se, just those that feel that they don't want or need it, are just as vociferous as those who feel they do...

It appears to ff discussions become more heated than anything else.

But there are FF options out there, you just have to change systems

I think questions about the "K-3" or whatever the next Pentax camera will be are very relevant on this forum, whether the next camera will be FF or not.

I also think it is natural that there is a fare share of complaining on this Forum, here are people who care about Pentax and therefore also share their concerns and complaints.

The fact is that many of us have invested, or plan to invest, significant amounts of money on lenses and other accessories. At the moment you do that without any idea on what is your future roadmap, in fact we do not even know for sure there will be a future for the K-mount.... (although we can assume so). This is not a very good place to be and I think this is showing in lens prices. Except for older lenses, which can be increasingly (and easily) used on other systems.

Seriously the bottom line is that we have no idea what Ricoh has planned for the K mount, only that it's their descision what happens next. I have high hopes but I guess we could all be wrong? As long as it's not the same as Sony's takeover of Minolta, the A900 was a tour de force of design and function, every inch of it cried Konica Minolta and quality, since then they seem to have been flinging mud at the problem to see what sticks, they have integrated and disbanded pretty much all of the DSLR Design departments they inherited and have spread it to the four winds, a lot of the DSLR guys are now designing compacts and vice versa. However they may have just invented the sucsessor to the DSLR I believe but they've gone a messy way about it. Minolta Owners get no support anymore despite Sony promises to the contrary, and I suppose some would argue,why should they? SLT Owners are starting to wonder what they got into, Nex owners barely get time to learn how to use their Cameras before a new model appears, it's a conveyer belt juggernaut, monster and a disjointed, convoluted, confused, one at that...

I like Pentax, I like their design philosophy, and I want that name on the front of my Camera, whatever it says on the bottom...

I'd be happy if Pentax released a 24mp APC camera similar to the Nikon 7100, which is what I would go for, and a 36mp FF.
Hopefully this would keep everyone happy

That is pretty much what I'm hoping for, but that would mean the savings having to build for a wee bit longer, and people keep putting tasty glass in the classified

It´s difficult to say, but Pentax already have 37Mpx camera. 645D
Expectations are for FF 24Mpx
APS-C could be 24Mpix too, but we do not have such a good glass for it.
I am happy enough with 16Mpx...
