K-1 in the Park (Image Heavy)

So, I took the K-1 to my local park this lunch time with the FA43ltd and DA*300, first real test in a more normal environment. Overall, I'm loving the camera, feels incredibly familiar but better, more up to date, quicker. Viewfinder is fantastic, focussing is much better than my K-3 and very quickly get used to the new positioning of buttons etc.

Anyway here are the results, C&C welcome

1: The Park



2: No park series is complete without a flying rat, while not perfect the AFC mode miles better than K3 (ISO 800)



3: I was't the only one enjoying the sun, or maybe I was !



4: Shot over the river, when I noticed a friend in the bottom left corner



5: Glad I took the 300 !

i like no 7 looks like a hair style from the 89s lol
and the things that should be put down at birth aint to bad ether

(and befor people start complaining about my squiral comment it only aplyes to the greys as in my opinon they are one of the main culprits of the song bird demise
because if you walk into a wood that as had them culled there is more song birds ask any game keeper)

There's nothing wrong with Squirrels! ☺

Certainly shows off the K1's potential. Anything with other DA lenses, especially with crop mode?

These are better than I expected and at last the 43mm can show how good it is.

Tim, these are all processed RAW files via LR. I tend never to use jpg

Nothing yet, although since my FF compatible glass is a little sparce I'll be testing some today to see how they compare directly to the K3

Hi Algi, I have to say that every time I've upgraded (K100>K200D, K200d->K5, K5->K3) first test shots have always been a little disappointing because expectations are so high and a takes a while to settle into a new camera. Not so this time, quite the opposite, expectations are being blown out of the water...

Well done on getting the first full set of K1 images onto PU! You're clearly enjoying the camera and that is the most important thing. I think its difficult to make any camera specific analysis or comparison on what are really test shots from a photographer just starting to use the model, but initial impressions count and it sounds good .... If you've worked the files in Lightroom then you have got a feel for what it can offer.

I don't think resolution or detail can be well judged on the web with shots like this, but I do see a wide tonal range in the gardens ones (and No 5) that comes through, and is something I would be looking for in an upgrade, more so than noise performance at high ISO, so it looks very encouraging here. Thanks for giving us the taster
