First shots with K1 and 15-30 ( unplanned in challenging light) whist waiting for the wife

Just Picked up a K1 and 15-30, but the wife needed to call in the shops so I was left in the car determined not to open the boxes until I got home; 25 mins passed and I had lost he will to live so I cracked open the boxes and went for a random wander followed a little later by a couple of grab shots at a relatives house

The light was a little challenging to say the least but I thought that might give me the opportunity to test it on Hi ISO, hand holding at slow shutter speeds ( some with very tight depth of field ); certainly not ideal conditions or subjects but take a look below.

Well you've proven it now, Daron ..... you have absolutely no self control But your luck was in that the battery was charged enough!

Dolly and the doorknob are the best here, and they show that this lens/camera combo is going to be a strong one.... good contrast and tonal control and the close focus on the doorknob has given a nice OOF effect above .... perhaps a 1/2 stop or so less exposure would have helped?

A nice thing Greg is that the K3 batteries are the same and I took a spare to give it a try in the shop.

Got a day on the birds next week with my 150-450 so I can't wait to do that with the K1 .

As regards the 15-30, despite having read about the front element I was quite surprised how " domed" it is but the distortion correction on the K1 really does what it claims.

So I hope to try it out in better conditions on the week end because it does look to be very sharp.

Dolly and door knob, both have a nice large format look to them, but that may be just the closeness. I'm sure the K1 will excel with the LTDs and have a lovely look in the right hands.
I doubt whether it will be any better for birds etc tho? Although it should allow higher shutter speeds if that was a problem before?

Looks like a very useful lens. Nice that the distortion is so well controlled/eliminated.
