According to the US forum new firmware is out, there is a link to it over there, and the feedback of those installing it is 100% positive.

Main benefit seems to be faster AF, how much varies by lens, but as a generalisation it seems the lenses which were slowest before are the ones showing the biggest improvement. People also reporting getting a focus lock where they couldn't before

The good people at PU have also added a link (eyes to the right now!) What the Vic says is true and certainly the problem that I experienced occasionally in low light, where the camera just couldn't get a focus lock, seems to have gone. (Shame SRS aren't selling the body at £299 any more, but the prices are still superb for what you get, especially with the 40XS.)
