That does seem an exceptional (even unlikely) price for someone to pay for an ME Super, however it's not the first time I've seen one of that sellers auctions do well. A week or so back an FA 28-200 went for something like £150+ which surprised me.
That seller does tend to be auctioning items in particularily good condition plus the presentation of the listing is also very good. Over £100 for an ME Super still seems insane though.

Batty takes great care over his auctions, and seems to get very good prices as a result.

Hiya..
George...great listing..you should do more..made me chuckle.
Just proves how good and bad listings can shape the final outcome. I am forever amazed how awful some photos are on camera listings..even dealers are damn awful, check out Jessops listings for one.
Cheers all.

I've been very happy indeed with anything that I've bought off spbatt. His descriptions are accurate, if anything under-stated, and that means we can rely on the item being a good one. I suspect the bidders on the ME Super know this and are therefore bidding keenly.
No doubt after all these comments in this thread, Simon will be blushing....

I too, am fortunate to have bought equipment from Batty and found everything perfect. He usually mentions 'Slight user mark' somewhere on his item and there probably is, but you would need damned good eyesight to see it!
Now his good name has come here to Ireland.

Spot on illustration from G on the darker side of buying Pentax on eBay! It's always a good idea to put 'Penatx' in the eBay search engine, now I am also wondering about putting in 'belonged to my late uncle' as well.
That ME Super is really flying... (although I admit to having concerns about it being a '0' feedback bidder)... it has still done itself proud. It puts me in mind of a quote I have always found useful, "A cynic knows the cost of everything but the value of nothing." What next... an MV reaching £50?
Thanks for the positive group feedback! Always appreciated.

I once paid £40 for a second-hand MV body, from a shop in Cambridge.
Mind you, it wasn't all that old at the time, eBay didn't exist and I don't think CDs did either, let alone digital cameras (circa 1984).
Although it was extremely basic, I quite liked it but I couldn't figure out why every film came out fogged along one edge - the light seals all looked ok!
Neadless to say I soon traded it in for a lens or some other accessory for my pristine ME Super

Here's an excellent example of what I was talking about: atrocious spelling, dead relations, zero punctuation, and Uncle Tom Cobley and all. Properly presented, this item should have earned £15.00 to £20.00, perhaps more.

In the event, the seller got a well-deserved £1.20 (plus a little more because he cheated on postage).

The trouble with poor spelling it that when you do a search, you may not find what you are looking for. I wish I had seen this as I have just paid more than £1.20 for similar extension tubes
(b.t.w. the results look promising and much cheaper than a proper macro len)

yah, but gorge, this is were we git's our bestest bargins - if'n we has enuff gutts to tak a chance.
I agree 100% with not risking money on a mechanics or glass, but accessories like tubes, cables and tripods are often beyond their ken and worth a little gamble.
It's always fun to look at the seller's other items. Usually there are no other photography offerings - meaning they really don't know anything about deceased Uncle Wally's pitcher-takin' stuff.
I've noticed that those who know what they are doing, separate bodies from lenses from filters from cases etc.
Those who are dumping Daddy's photography gear tend to be in a hurry and offer it as a kit. These can be VERY good deals.
I've dun good, and I've been burned badly. I guess it all evens out in the long run. Eventually we wind up with boxes of junk, and begin to zero in on the Batty type offerings as we seek out our dream gear. I have a fellow here in Montreal who goes by Wideangleman, who only sells excellent (and antique) equipment. He hasn't let me down yet.
'Course then there are the mates we meet in these forums, who offer the best of help and share their extra gear on a "Pay it Forward" basis - for whom we are truly grateful.
Cheers

The big answer is.... Yes!
Payment received and Pentax cameras and lens dispatched, I couldn't fault the buyer at all. Infact he has been a Pentax user for a long, long time until all his kit was stolen. I put a few Pentax 'extras' in the box before sending everything to him in Ireland.
If anyone gets a chance to read Photography Monthly this month, look out for the £150 challenge towards the back of the mag. One of the two guinea pigs opted to spend the money on an MX and M50 f/1.7 all because that was the camera his Dad had owned. He did go on to say that the camera was actually worth around £250 on eBay!! Now that would be red letter day if I received that price for an MX, more like £90 if you're lucky nowadays! He took some decent pics with it.
I wish we could get more Pentaxes appearing in camera mags.
All the best,
Batty

I've seen ME Supers with a couple of lenses go for a third of this. The next one down, although identical is going for £30. The same two (noobs) are bidding on it.. do they know something???
Again, just curious.
