I saw John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers in Utrecht a few years ago.

I can honestly say it is the worst concert I have ever been to. They never acknowledged the audience, not even the front row, never looked at anyone but each other and it just felt like we were intruding in a private, 2 hour long, jam session. It was awful.

Charlie Musselwhite was on the same programme and was far more enjoyable.

That said no doubt my husband would go and see him again, even though even he didn't enjoy the concert in Utrecht.

My husband is going to see Jeff Beck on Wednesday .

I don't think I can listen to him straight for a couple of hours, so presing a button once in a while might be a good relief

Doesn't sound to good... it's also not in a big concert place.
550 standing places or 180 sitting so if will be unable acknowledged the audience I doubt the place will come loose

Alain Clark and Tamar Lewis sounds more interesting then.

He may just have been having an off day when I saw him Stefan. I don't know. The music was good - but I could have listened to a CD for that.

It doesn't cost much to see him in Dordrecht, especially if you have a CJP.
Go and see what you think. He is a legend after all.

You may not be allowed to take the K5 though. Many places won't allow "professional" cameras in whilst everyone else is flashing away with their phones and P&S cameras.

I saw John Mayall at an outside live concert in Lorca, Spain last year.

Amazing for a 75 year old.

My wife is a big fan of his and has been for many years.

Some very famous musicians did their 'apprenticeship' as one of his Bluesbreakers.

This the rules about camera use.
Cameragebruik is toegestaan, mits de optredende artiesten hiertegen geen bezwaar maken en artiesten, personeel en publiek niet worden gehinderd. Gebruik van flits en/of statief is niet toegestaan. Professioneel cameragebruik alleen met aantoonbare schriftelijke toestemming van de artiesten.
So a DSLR seems to be allowed as long as you don't use it professionally or the artist said that no photos are allowed but I believe they must make that clear although it might be better to contact them first to ask.

Yes Stefan - check with the venue to be sure.
I have been to concerts where people were given the choice - hand over the camera or don't go in, but I have also been to them where I have thought damn wish I'd brought my camera!
And as for no flash allowed - that is standard but it never seems to stop those with phone cameras flashing away. Goodness knows how their photos turn out though.

Awesome. He played a good mix of old and new tracks.

I was a fan in the sixtys and still am. Saw him live many times. He is as good now as he was then. Go for it

Back in the early 80s - I was lucky enough to see him with the re-formed Bluesbreakers - McVie, Taylor and Co when they did a 2 year world tour - totally unforgetable.

My advice - go see him while you can. My second piece of advice - leave the camera at home - unless you can see him a second tome - then take it

He will be only one night and at his age i doubt i will see him again.
Like i said before, i'll take my camera with me any ways, i can't sit still all the time and listen to him. So i either get drunk or i keep sober and take some photos, i think the later one is the better option.

Don't be too sure about that ......
