I've noticed that Jessops are now selling their flash for £68. This looks like a great deal. I know it was going for £99 a few months ago. Does anyone have any experience with this unit?
Thanks

It's still 98 quid on their website, all but a few pence

I have the Jessops 360AFD, I have been convinced that is it full p-ttl, if you put the camera on a 2 second delay it flashes at the start and also with the shutter.

It generally works well for giving a bit of extra light indoors, I usually bounce it off a wall or ceiling and it works well for that. I would say it feels quite cheaply made but what do you expect for someting about half the price of alternatives. Best thing to do is get to Jessops and ask to try it out, they were quite happy to do this for me. I paid a bit less for it, £37 I think, so if you're patient they may put them on offer again sometime.

I was thinking exactly the same thoughts re: Flash over the weekend. Pentax stuff on my budget - sub £100 is hard to come by.

Saw the Jessops one at £68.48 online today (20/01) link

Alternatively, SRS have a Metz Mecablitz 36 for £79 - no autozoom, but how useful is that? link

I'm really looking for something to help with 'bounce' for portrait work (RingFlash is on the wishlist!!), but the budget really is stuck at as-sub-ton as i can go unfortunately.
I guess i don't need anything overly sophisticated, but don't really know how useful Auto-Zoom is over manual, given that the Metz offers 1st & 2nd curtain that the Jessops one doesn't mention?
Any advice gratefully received.

Nowt on fleabay apart from some very dodgy 'universal' stuff from china.

Cheers

The jessops one has had some poor reviews about light quality, something that is amazingly often overlooked

Which reviews are they?

I had the 360AFD with my K10d/K20d, and only changed it to get the wireless capability.

For £68, I think they are great, and mine never missed a beat.

TTL, reasonably powerful, tilt and swivel, adjustable power, built in flash panel. What more do you need?

Get a Sto-Fen diffuser, and away you go!

its good for me as I have a *istD that supports ttl. The guy in jessops was saying that it was fully comparable with the newer pentax dslr's as it was a digital flashgun. If I were you I'd pop along to a jessops store and take your camera with you so you could try it. That way you'll get a definant answer if it'll work or not. It controls the exposure on my camera even telling me on the flash lcd panel what aperture its using.
BUT did it work on your GX10 ??? (p-ttl that is )

As thinking of buying one !

He means the other guns are P-TTL. The GX-10 won't like the Jessops.
