Wireless implies that adapters and connectors are not needed and yes, the *istDS is wireless compatible with the Pentax AF360FGZ and AF540FGZ flashes.
You will need two flashes, both wireless compatible. The one on the hot shoe will be set to Master or Controller, the off camera flash set to slave.
The on-board flash of the *istDS can't be used as a master or controller for wireless operation.
You can download the *istDS manual from here. Page 155/156 will answer your questions re wireless flash on your camera.
