infrared filter

Just to quickly try the K20D with infrared; today in sunlight I found that, ISO 800 and 2secs @ f8 achieved a reasonable image. These are a lot longer exposures than on the Pentax istDL2.

Don't know about anyone else but I would like to see some of these infrared images that we're talking about,

The filter was changed on the K10D (and presumably all subsequent DSLRs), and it's a much stronger one than on the *istD series.

Jack, here's one I took with my *istD a few years back. Keep meaning to try it again, but never seem to get round to it. Ammonyte did some nice ones at Burnham Beeches, I seem to recall.

Thanks Dan, that seems a lot stronger filter than the K20 has, I'm not really into this but it does have a nice effect, something different for a change,

Hi again, have not been able to try out my camera using the filter again as, never guess, well of course, its raining again, so will have to hope that I get a good day during this month.August though is usually a raining month here. I would however like to see some photo's taking from anyone who has had a IR filter, just to see what it turns out like. I really love to have a go without the cost of buying a camera with it already on. I so like the effect, and it would be a great way of taking photo's when the weather is blue and beautifully white clouds. I did one on the computer but I don't know how to put it on here.

Will try that as soon as I get a good day.

Thank you Susan, it's my only infrared photo that I like.
It's really hard to do a proper infrared with the K10D.

I prefer the editied one, I wondered what the round bit at the bottom was in the editied one, now I can see,perhaps if you cloned it out it would look even better. Just a though. You did right in cropping it though.

Prefer the edited one too but now you have an idea what you get when using an infrared filter and what you need to do.

About cloning out the lens flare, I've thought about that but most don't find it distracting and you will always see that you cloned it out. Some things are better left alone.

...was actually the best I've managed with the K10D and IR filter.
The K20D may be even better/worse in IR terms.

Thanks Conky, Still not been able to take any photo's with IR filter as the weather was stormy yesterday and today still raining.
