In Flight

Following re-calibrating my K10D's focus, I was keen to test it out with my Sigma 18-200. What do you think?

Taking birds flying is new for me as I have not done much panning pictures, well not since I was about 18 and at an air show!

Birds in flight are difficult to focus on even when the camera's working perfectly, so it's not really a good subject to draw conclusions about the focussing performance on. Having said that, numbers 3 and 4 look like they're in focus to me and numbers 1 and 2 look slightly off. Hope that helps!

I ment of the photos, not the focus! It is been a long day! I was really seeing what the focus on the K10D could do by setting continious and automatic focus point selection. It seemed to do a good job in general. As for the actual focus, there were many other shots on the day for this.

You captured that bird nicely indeed. What is lacking for "great" pictures is the background. For me it's too distracting from the star of the scene.

I know how difficult it is to get such good captures of birds in flight (I hardly ever succeeded in taking a picture that really satisfied me, now that I write that I doubt I succeeded even once) and you made a good job of that.

I love the bird and the sunlit feathers on pic #2 the most, I think.
