If I was to sell up..

What would be a reasonable price for my kit? Based on current SRP/RRPs its probably a fair amount due to the price rises, but are people willing to pay that?

This is what id value the use items at (all in great condition, no damage to any) based on what the price new is at the moment (at SRS)

K20D w/ Kit lens £450
DA*16-50 £600 (Currently 835 new and rrp over 1000)
DA 10-17 £225
Metz 58Af-1 £175
DA 50 £275 (439 new! Ridiculous)

now that works out at around £1700, and I paid around the same for the kit (the 16-50 was refurb).. so how would you price it? Id put it more at £1300ish..

By the way the only way im selling up is if the Nikon D300 replacement baffles me enough to want to buy it, and I can afford it. Ive been saving for ages for the K-7 and it hasnt made me want to buy it really.. ill wait for more reviews, but still.

I would say you are in the right area at £1300, maybe a little more.

Don't wait for reviews. Wait to hear what the better photographers on here have to say about it after a month or two; and look at their pictures.

My impression is that it is going to prove to be a delightful camera to use, but that image quality will not be markedly different from the K20D. And so what? Frankly, I still marvel at the quality I get from my K10D (with a good lens - it's suprising how noticeably better the (original) Limiteds are than almost anything else).

When a new camera comes out, reactions to it go through three stages:

High and often excessive anticipation
Anticlimax
Quiet satisfaction.

We are currently in stage 2.

I agree. I am hankering after a K7. When the price is £600 there will be a stampede for it.

I highly doubt the K-7 will drop to sub-£600 prices while still in production, at most I think it will drop to £800, but even then thats a stretch

The K20D started at what, £800-900? and now its £579.

I think its more "new camera on the market depression" - the fact I dont want the new pentax means I must want something else! Fact is I havent picked up my camera all week, and should probably just go out and shoot.

My Oxford English Dictionary has a whole page on the definitions of impression. The one I was using was:
"An effect, especially a strong effect, produced on the mind, conscience, or feelings."

Had I meant a vague impression, I would of course have used those words.

By the way, I can find no mention of Tommy Cooper. Obviously didn't make much of an impression.
