What used to amuse me is when someone would buy say £50 worth of lottery tickets and then win £5. They would usually but another £5 worth of tickets for the next draw or some scratch cards because by their logic they were £5 up on the deal.

Most statisticians (99.999999999%) think it's stupid because
of the very poor odds compared with other forms of gambling.
It might be sightly better from a statistics point of view
when there's a rollover.

If you bought ALL the combinations in every Lottery to date
(so that you won every draw)you would have LOST
£13,094,683,135..... Ouch!!

The Irish Lottery through UK bookmakers used to offer better
odds and providing you don't mind all the work involved
you should be able to come away with a small profit at
the end of the year.

Tony why do you think winning the Euromillions is better
than Winning £10M in the UK Lottery
(Don't answer Think!!!!)

Some common sense comments here and one or two not so.

So if we have as near as doesn't matter image quality, what do we shout about next?

Best regards

From a strictly scientific point it is almost inevitably a waste of money.

For a bit of fun it's OK.

The Irish Lottery was fine if you didn`t mind funding terror !

I would love to be paying taxes - it would mean my income was worth having !

I never said it was "better" - I just said I had two tickets - I think !

55% of statisticians are loopy,63% are devious and the rest innumerate.............( according to recent research )

As for poor odds - see Ted`s answer ...........................

My company has just moved its HO to Maple Cross. I looked it up on Google Maps. About 15 minutes from SRS I think. I am doomed. Bang goes the kids Christmas presents

When you guys get yours, I would be most interested in your opinions. I am very keen to get one, but I really made a bit of a mistake going from the K20D to the K-7, as it has not proved to answer either the slow autofocus, or the high ISO noise as I expected it to.

Just don't want to make another expensive mistake. I have yet to trace a test report on the K-5. Can you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks.
