I have heard 100000 shutter actuations (before a service is required) mentioned in relation to some Pentax bodies.

So far, every digital camera we have had has been upgraded and passed on long before it failed.
In fact, of those we know the whereabouts of (as opposed to those sold on eBay) none have failed.

I've had a K10D that went faulty on the green button lens stopdown mechanism after 10,000 actuations. Too expensive to repair (compared to buying a SH K10D) so the camera was basically scrap. The same stopdown mechanism exists on film cameras and I've never known any of them to go faulty.
With digital your taking a big risk buying SH.

I have just noticed that Mrs.Tozza`s K100 is registering 999 shots left on the card every time I switch on or after taking a shot !
Is this a fault ? Am I missing something ? Should I buy her a K7 ???

Depending on the size of the card! 999 is the maximum count in the display, so if the capacity is larger, this will be the result.
Best regards

Oh come on Tech !! If I don`t play with it who will ?? Jo is one of those people from the old days ( tee hee ) who could load up a 36 frame ISO 200 Fujifilm and when eventually developed have recorded Christmas,Summer Hols and the following Christmas.

I know what you mean Try reminding her that these toys have a habit of going on strike if not regularly used
Remember you are speaking to the one who has killed no less than 3 cameras in a very short space of time - and all of them died with different problems. I have ignored the one that died because it was run over by a tractor !!
