If there IS a way to delete a gallery photo, it is not obvious. If anybody knows of a way, could they please tell me.
There are currently 43 pages of gallery photos, many of rather indifferent quality. I'm not quite sure what the point of it is.
Well I just managed to delete my Red Arrows photo easily enough. I went to my portfolio, selected the photo, and there was a 'Delete' link.

Found it. Thank you.
I had expected to be able to delete from the thumbnail, or from the pop-up menu that is available when you open the image.
Instead, it's on the information bar below the photo.

Sorry. The first time I posted the link, it didn't work. Clicked it in preview and nothing happened.

George, there was an almost instant reply to your report. It's now gone off the list as it was dealt with a few days ago.
You can edit or delete any image in the gallery that you have posted. Just click the delete button when you've brought up the image.
Anyone who posts a report should see the reply soon afterwards. I haven't seen any yet that have had no reply.
Hope that helps!

Ok. It seems that I have been told twice how to do this, and failed to remember either.
Worrying.
But thanks.

Well I may be going bananas, but I am pretty sure, nay absolutely certain, that I deleted my sole gallery photo. It had only been posted as a trial.
Today I saw that the Portfolio icon next to my name indicated that I had a portfolio. Sure enough, the deleted gallery photo had risen like a phoenix, and was there for all to see.
So I deleted it again, and a message came up saying it had been "made inactive", whatever that means. I now fear that in three days it may rise again and come back to haunt me.

That will teach you, posting pictures who don't deserve a place in the "finest only" Gallery. Well I may be going bananas, but I am pretty sure, nay absolutely certain, that I deleted my sole gallery photo. It had only been posted as a trial.

I've had a look and your Portfolio section is empty. It may be that you need to clear your Cache as your own computer is still holding the image. Try a forced refresh.

It's empty now, because I deleted it. But I am certain I had deleted it before.
And what does "made inactive" mean? Is it still lurking somewhere in the vast vaults of Megazine Publishing, or whatever it's called? Can I re-activate it? Can you? (Not that you'd want to!)

I suspect that you've switched the image off by deleting it, but just like any other computer system it has only marked it as deleted (or inactive) and it will still be somewhere until the cache at the PU end is cleared.
