Hot Shoe Microphone - Recommendations?

Rode seem to be well regarded by many and used by many U - tube video makers . I went for Azden and have had good results . On the plus side it takes a single AAA battery and when separated from its mount slips into a side pocket on my bag taking up very little space. It works well and delivers good results.
The only real "issue" I have with it is the lack of an Led or other form of indicator that it is powered up - easy to put away switched on ! I just always make sure we have spare batteries .
