Do you just need to register the domain name (just for email, for instance)? Or are you going to put an actual website there?

I would suggest you do not register your domain name at the same place as your hosting. Just in case

And what use do you want to make of the website? I can suggest a host which is reliable, with no practical limits on space or bandwidth and very economical, or at the opposite end one with bags of support, very high security and auto backups every 4 hours - but not quite as cheap!
I an get you an entire account, or sub you just part of an account, whatever best meets your needs.
If you are going to host a website then registering the domain with host company makes things much easier while getting started, and you'll be reminded to renew, etc. But conversely it can be harder if you want to move host later. BTW, registering .co.uk and .com/.net names are each slightly different, ditto with moving them.
PM me if you want more info, I can offer free advice, paid assistance just as when when needed it, or do it for you - whatever you'd like, if you'd like.

I agree with the above. Have your domain name and host in the same place. I know dome people are not fans of GoDaddy, but it has definitely worked for me with my sites. They have great tech support and it has been so easy to have everything with them. Sure there prices may be a little higher than other options, but I think in the end it is well worth it to try them out.

I use ukreg.com to register my domains and have used jaguarpc.com for hosting for nearly ten years now (nowadays unlimited disk space and bandwidth from them costs about £45 per year)

I am using Krystal Hosting and they also are registrars so my domains are with them as well. I have the basic package as my website is not high bandwidth but they do all sorts of hosting. I have found them very good, with them because they took over my original company but I have no complaints at all and found their service excellent.
