His and Hers K5s

The order has now been placed with SRS - two Pentax K5 cameras with 18-55mm WR lenses plus two spare Pentax batteries. The delivery is expected tomorrow.

It will be sad to see the K10D and one K20D go because I liked the design, but the K5 will offer advantages for our available light wedding shots and also for our new interest in shooting wildlife.

We will keep one K20D as backup, but eventually it too may well be upgraded. It's a constant evolution with digital cameras, which I guess is good news for those who make them and those who sell them.
Best regards, John

Looking to take the plunge myself eventually. The K10Ds we have are still good but there is a huge difference when compared to the K-5.

You can go right off some people, I only want one ... boo hoo.
Seriously though John I hope you enjoy them and post plenty of sample images to this forum.

since the k5 is even better than the kr I bought, I'm sure you will be glad you made the plunge!
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Congratulations John! It would be nice to hear your experience using your k-5s and any good tips.

So no 18-135 lens after all?

No, no 18-135mm lenses for now. It would have added an extra £1000 to the bill and overlapped too much with our existing lenses.

Sadly, there has to be some realism to this process.

They arrived safely today, first batteries are charged and Sue has beaten me to it with a faultless shot from the TV screen.

We've both set up the cameras the same, so when we work together every shot will match as well as possible.

All very nice and smooth, ultra-quiet shutter, and an effective LV for when it's needed.

Will report back with samples after the obligatory trip to Arley Hall on Sunday!
Best regards, John

Sounds like Christmas in April....

Always good to get new kit to play with.

I gave in as well!
Ordered from SRS yesterday... K-5 and bits arrived about half hour ago.

Initial thoughts: menus are a bit different to the K-7 but more logical, shutter is wonderful, IQ is stunning, and even the 18-55WR is very respectably made!! LV is a huge improvement, dual level sensor is useful, configuration of RAW button is wonderful.

Have fun John & Sue!!
