Absolutely... but for the first time made me wish I had a better telephoto zoom. Every silver cloud has an LBA lining

Just loved that series !
Doubly lucky - I just watched a program on Animal World - woman paraglider attacked at 10,000 ft by two Wedge Tailed Eagles ! Apparently she may have inadvertently flown over the nest (......as you would at 10K) !

Amazed to see that these nest on the ground?! Do foxes and feral cats not wreak havoc among the chicks there (or is the area surrounded by exclusion fencing)?
Thanks for sharing these.

I was amazingly privileged last week to see Hen Harrier chicks close up. At the end of the day during a visit to the RSPB Forsinard reserve (far north of Scotland) to look at peat bogs (don't ask :wink, the reserve manager said 'do you fancy looking at a Hen Harrier nest'. We don't get these magnificent birds here in the Peak District (lots of controversy over why not), so what an opportunity
They were getting close to fledging - so pretty big chickies. Amazingly camouflaged in the brash - I could have been five yards away and not noticed them. Grabbed a few snaps in the short time we were there whilst the RSPB guys checked them. They wanted to see how many had survived to that stage - apparently there were originally six chicks (unusual), but only four were still there last week. No sign of the parents near the nest (off hunting apparently) but we saw adult Harriers at other times.
