Great tit with the Tair

I was messing around in the garden with my recently acquired the Tair 300 and spotted this great tit. Despite its weight and handling quirks I think this may start to get quite a bit of use. So far I've only tried it handheld, wide open (4.5) and at higher ISO than I like to use on the K20D, but it does seem to have very decent resolving power and quite a nice bokeh.

There was a bit purple fringing between the black and white on the head which I removed by cranking down the saturation after selecting with the colour with pipette tool in Aperture.

K20D+Tair 300 ISO 400, 500th @ F4.5, SR on

Given that this shot is taken 'wide open' that lens looks like it will get more use.

What is the minimum focus distance with it :

K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Yes Stuey, in theory it should get better stopped down a bit. Minimum focus distance is around 3M. Looking forward to using it more.

Thats pretty good, my Tokina 300mm f5.5 has a minimum focus of around 5 metres.

K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

While that's a nice bird, I think it's extremely unfair to drag me into this post on the promise of seeing a "Great tit".

Takes a while to get used to the bird life over here, I was equally disapointed when my wife told me their was a pair of Great Tits in the garden.
