Hi and welcome to the family
Members here are friendly and full of banter we all tend to help each other out
Th kx can produce just as good photos as any other camera and there is a wealth of experience on here if you have a problem that you are not shore off
Someone will know the awnser or steer you in the right direction

Hello and welcome from me too.
The K-x is a great camera, not used much by me now as I have other cameras, but all my early digital work with Pentax cameras was with a variety of K-x's.
You really must view the gallery of Phil Hemsley (morpheus71), see link below. All of Phil's work is with a K-x and it is truly stunning stuff.

Best wishes

Welcome Gerald,
I went to digital slr with the compact KX. A pentamirror rather than pentaprism was my main complaint as without weather sealing it collected dust too easily. Great photos from it though. I moved on to the KR, then the K5 and now K3. All a natural progression to learn with.
Good luck with your plans and do share results with us.
