I have two questions:
1. Can I use my miranda 700 CD multi dedicated fash gunhttp://www.mirandacamera.com/_service/_inst_books/_700CD_flash/700CD_flash.htm on it.
Hi David,

It's all down to trigger voltages, and whether they'll fry the camera firstly. The list we tend to follow here is this one..
http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

It doesn't list yours, but does list three Miranda flashes. I'm guessing taht the630 CD is the closest to the 700 BUT, the best thing to do is to check the trigger voltage yourself, instructions on how to do this are just before the list gets going.

If it does fall within reasonable levels for the DS (Daniel, George any idea what that is.. I seem to remember about 30V max???), and I'd wait for confirmation, then it's how much compatibility there is between body and gun. You'll get (almost certainly) full manual, it just depends on the communication up to the gun, whether you'll get any other modes available.

Hope that helps,

Cheers

Liam

I use a Centon flash (FG30), which is listed as having a 200V trigger voltage. I've never tested it, so can't say whether my one is this high or not. Obviously I can't say that 200V (assuming my one is triggering at 200V) is safe, but I've used this flash on my K10D and *istD and had no problems. Anyone using the same would do so at their own risk.

A link from that Botzilla page takes you to this thread: http://www.botzilla.com/photo/photoBook/pbook.html#msg200

...which says that Pentax have said their SLRs are safe to 600V, but that the correspondent has problems (not fatal) with a 300V flash gun. However, this was in 2003, so possibly before the first Pentax DSLRs.

Any branded flashgun made in the last fifteen years wil be fine.

By "branded", I mean a brand you have heard of. The "New China Cheapy Flashy" doesn't count.
