They even have the f/2 lens down as an f/1.2 in the listing
Which is probably the reason they are asking so much.

I wish they had an f/1.2 advertised as an f/2 with the BIN for an f/2

I also see someones stuck a paper "Japan" sticker on the bottom of the
camera?

They have a little feature to comment on their listing at the bottom. I wonder if they actually read the comments.

Well I can undercut them! Anyone want a near mint working K1000 with 50mm f2 for £200?

The K1000 seems to attract a lot of silly prices. While well made, I'd rather have an MX for similar money. The MX is far more user-friendly, has a more informative viewfinder, and can be fitted with various accessories if desired.

Like most people I have had very good experiences with ebay. I have never had to return an item from the 400 or so I have bought (mostly not photographic I hasten to add before you get the wrong-ish idea). I have noticed, however, that it is much harder to get bargains now than it used to be. I have many more failed bids than actual purchases in recent months, many more!

Other one to watch is "I don't really know about cameras, but to the best of my knowledge it's in full working order". This is on listings for things that people who "don't really know about cameras" might be expected to own: CZJ Flektogons, 50mm A 1.7s etc.

There are quite a few people who inherit camera equipment and have little idea what it's all about, so I wouldn't discount all those types of auction. They can sometimes be just telling the truth.

Unfortunately, much of the stuff isn't in good condition, maybe badly stored, damp, full of fungus...

I tend to agree with Womble on the bargain bit.

Ebay is full, at the moment, of expensive items. When I can get a good Asahi Pentax S3 for less than £20 from a local shop(and that includes a 3 month warranty!)there's no point in buying unseen items from the 'net.

what is sure is that within the next week or so they'll be plenty of items for sale on ebay, the silly looter will sell everything they stole, and if there is a good way to report them to the police i would love to hear about it.

Remember that the buyer is fairly well protected on ebay - you risk a bit of time wasted and return postage (can be quite high).
