Google plus

Simple reason is: they are probably signed up to Google Adsense, whick generates revenue for the site you mentioned every time somebody clicks on a link that Adsense posts. Possibly, someone in the past has mentioned Google Plus in a topic and/or thread, so somebody else clicks a link to it to see what it's about, thus creating "global interest" in that particular topic. Adsense works by seeking "trigger words or phrases", and my guess is that Google Plus is one of those trigger phrases.
I did notice the Google Plus button, and the Facebook "like" button too. It's entirely possible that people are viewing a specific image to link it to their own Google plus profile (a bit like tagging), and slooooowly, these hits "establish" this site in the google search tools, thus G+ continually gets a mention.

Hello Steven,
Forgive the misunderstanding, but I did not ask why this web site is using google+ as part of its strategy, I asked if google plus could be of use for a photographer

no worries, it's my bad. My English is not that good and the first post is not clear at all
I meant this:
I wonder why: beside a slick interface, I do not see what the benefit for a photographer using it could be.

Stick to ePHOTOzine, our sister site. I realise I've posted a picture a day for eight years! Wow, someone do the maths, that's a lot of pictures!
I must have a look back at page 1 and see if I've improved....

Sign up, post a picture per day, get votes of approval and feedback comments. It's a great way to learn and grow. My page is johnriley1uk if you want top have a look.
Also, it's an online magazine with news and reviews and articles.
I think it's pretty impressive and it always surprises me that more of us don't realise there's a connection between PU and EPZ. Don't forget Photodo for lenses!

John - I'll confess to being the saddo here... You have posted 2922 photos there!!
365 x 8 = 2920 (plus, factor in an extra day for each leap year) - Grand Total = 2,922!!
Eat your heart out, Carol Vordemort!!

Google+ is pretty good! It's nice for networking and building lists of contacts, and the image hosting is good. I had migrated from Flickr because Google+ allowed more generous image sizes and online storage.
However the tables turned recently when Flickr was updated, allowing essentially unlimited uploads!
I haven't used Ephotozine in years, unfortunately. I used to absolutely love it - but the small image size, only one image per day allowed, and horrifyingly cluttered site design.... yeech. Needs a revamp IMHO!

I find G+ great for getting exposure. My images on there generally tend to get more attention than they do on Flickr, which has lead to some print sales. I also find the groups (or communities) have a lot more going on in them than most of the ones on Flickr, along with more links to interesting stuff outside the site. It's sort of like a cross between Facebook and Flickr, but unlike Facebook, it doesn't strip the exif from your images.

aliengrove, how do you increase the attention to your photos? What is the strategy? Is it worth it? Does google+ have more visibility the FB for print sales purposes? Btw (if I do not ask too much) which printing service do you use to sell your photos?

I recently joined this photography site: http://www.photoextract.com/ and I noticed they endorse google plus a lot. I wonder why, beside a slick interface, I do not understand what the benefit for a photographer could be using it.
