Really appreciate you having a shot at it - it appears not unfortunately.
I have found that the images preview OK, even on first posting they show up, but as soon as you refresh the page, it is gone.
The one thing that I now wonder about is this - is there some upload limit for images to these threads, as well as to the gallery?

That is really weird. It was there and now it isn't. I can right click open in new tab and get the image but the img tag in this forum fails. My suspicion lies with the forum software!

and while I have been pasting image links and attempting to post images here (only to cancel each post when the image linking failed), I can now see all of the images where before I saw only the dreaded red X! :

Perhaps it's a validation thing? Maybe if you log on to to pbase then your account is 'active' so the images are visible and if you're not they're not? Can't see how that would work but try logging onto the pbase account and the switch to the forum and refresh?

Mike, great thought for eliminating possibilities! Logged out, shut the pbase tab, then came back here - images are still visible (to me anyway).Perhaps it's a validation thing? All the images in this thread are currently visible to me, and I don't have a pbase account to log in to. However they were visible when I posted the 4 images earlier, but then 2 minutes later they weren't. Now they are again

Hmm, this is very odd. I use Safari on the Mac. If I enter the page address in the address box and press enter, this page loads and I can see all images. However if I then 'reload' the page by pressing command-r or choosing the view/reload menu item, the images all disappear (except i-Berg's 4th image in the very first post). If I then put the cursor in the address bar and press enter again, all the images reappear! Try 'reload' and they all vanish again. This is repeatable!
Edit: I believe that putting the cursor into the menu bar and pressing return forces a cache refresh, but just pressing 'reload' once doesn't, I'm guessing that has something to do with it. Somehow the pbase images aren't getting cached?

They don't seem to work reliably. Could it be that pbase doesn't allow hotlinking?
I was wondering that for a moment also - however, the last of the four images in my original post seems to have linked and stayed linked. They are all from pbase and all from the same gallery, all K10D shots converted to JPGs in the same batch via LR3.
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated! I have tried a few times to contribute to the snow thread, and have yet to be able to show the image I have, although I'll keep trying of course
