I think theres an even better image with a crop of the r/h 3/4 ish with just the 2 sets of buds, superb dof

No need to wait for Chris - the answer is 'YES'. And it's very good indeed .
One of the reasons the crop works for me is that it removes the big, white, distracting blob to left of centre in the original.
Any chance of the same shot with the FA 77 wide open (or whatever aperture was used here)? Just curious to see what difference a big, expensive, modern lens makes...

Thanks both - Sorry Steve, can't take a shot with the FA77 - Yesterday I finally packaged it off and sent it to a new home - A sad day, but I can't afford to keep the collection at the level it was and the D FA*85 covers my needs at portrait length
